ALER supports the United Nations Decade of Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL)

At the end of the first day of the "I Conference Energy for Development of CPLP", the United Nations Decade of Sustainable Energy for All (2014‐2024) in Portuguese‐speaking countries was launched.

ALER will work as a focal point to stimulate the achievement of SE4ALL goals and actions in Portuguese‐speaking countries, by interacting with all the main stakeholders, collecting and sharing information, capacity building, disseminate good practices and lessons learned, and help to attract financing and investment in sustainable energy, mainly renewable energies.

The participation in SE4ALL is very important to benefit the 33 Million people in CPLP countries who still do not have access to electricity, taking into account the  financial resources, contacts and technical support that the initiative gives access to.

The Sustainable Energy for All initiative was launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2011, it has three interlinked objectives to be achieved by 2030:

  • Ensure universal access to modern energy services;
  • Double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency;
  • Double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
