EU-AO Dialogue Facility: ALER and MINEA implement technical mission to Mozambique in September
As part of the Implementation Agreement signed in June 2023 by ALER and the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA) with the EU-Angola Dialogue Facility, an "Exchange to analyse the potential of a solar home systems programme in Angola" took place in September.
This technical mission took place in Mozambique with the aim of analysing the challenges and obstacles faced by off-grid electrification in the Angolan context and exploring solutions in this area. To this end, the delegation held meetings and field visits with companies and institutions that have already implemented solar home systems. These meetings and visits provided a deeper understanding of the challenges and concrete benefits of a programme of this nature, especially in rural and peri-urban areas around Maputo.
The delegation was made up of the Director of the National Directorate for Renewable Energies and Rural Electrification, Serafim Silveira, the Head of Department, João Landa, the Minister's Adviser, João Saraiva, the Chairman of the Board of the Angolan Renewable Energy Association, Victor Fontes, and on behalf of ALER, the Executive Director, Isabel Cancela de Abreu and the Project Manager, Rita Marouço.
