Renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in the São Tomé and Príncipe electricity sector
UNIDO and ALER developed, in 2018, "Renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in the electricity sector of São Tomé and Príncipe".
This project, funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), came under the Ministry of Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment (MINRE), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) with the aim of combating the current energy challenges of São Tomé and Príncipe by promoting investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency in the electricity sector.
The following activities were developed under this programme:
- Development, publication and dissemination of the "National Status Report on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in São Tomé and Príncipe", as part of the series of reports prepared by ALER;
- Organisation of a validation workshop on the Status Report and the GEF Executive Director's Approval Document.
