New Energy World interviews ALER on electrification and renewable energies in Angola

The Energy Institute's New Energy World magazine published an article on electrification and renewable energies in Angola, with statements from Rita Marouço, ALER's Project Manager, and Victor Fontes, President of the Angolan Renewable Energy Association (ASAER).


The article “Angola boosts electrification and renewable energy” highlights the country's efforts to diversify its energy sources to achieve the UN's sustainable development goals. With a significant focus on renewable energies (such as solar and hydroelectric power), Angola's total installed capacity for electricity production currently stands at 6,129 MW.

 

Given the challenges Angola faces in expanding its electrification, Rita Marouço and Víctor Fontes emphasize the importance of private sector investment and warn of the need for legislative and tariff reforms to attract investment and guarantee the sustainability of the electricity sector.
