ALER celebrates new partnership with GET.transform

In September, ALER celebrated a new partnership with GET.transform, aiming at fostering an enabling environment to promote decentralized RES in Mozambique.

GET.transform contributes to international energy and climate targets by assisting developing and emerging countries worldwide in advancing their energy sector transformations. It is a technical assistance programme supporting national and regional partners and institutions in advancing their energy transitions, and is co-funded by the European Union, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden and Austria, and implemented by GIZ.

Through this project, ALER is committed to foster an enabling environment to advance decentralized renewable energy projects in Mozambique, by supporting the activities being carried out by Mozambican public institutions through the promotion of knowledge and best practices exchange with other Lusophone countries.

The first initiative under this project was the organisation of the Series of Seminars on Energy and Climate in the CPLP, a pioneering project to promote energy transition and access to clean energy in the CPLP. The first of four seminars took place in July, where GET.transform participated in the panel that discussed the role of regulatory frameworks for renewable energy investment, giving insights from the activities in Mozambique. It shared success factors and emphasised the role of regulation in turning barriers into opportunities to unlock private and public investment through reduced risk, clear rules and transparent, effective tendering of RE projects.

Besides the seminars, in partnership with GET.transform, ALER aims to develop other activities, anchored in Long Term Energy Planning, Renewable Energy Grid Integration; and both Off-Grid and On-Grid Market Development & Regulation.

The regional dimension of this project, linking Mozambican stakeholders with other lusophone experts, is in line with ALER's Strategic Plan and Action Plan for 2024, reinforcing its position as a promoter of joint activities and the exchange of Lusophone experiences, as a way to foster the development of renewable energy projects in the Portuguese speaking countries to achieve universal electrification.
