ALER present at the 1st ARIAE-RELOP International Conference
ALER was present at the 1st ARIAE-RELOP International Conference, which took place on 6th November 2024, in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. The event, which was under the theme “The role of regulation in the current energy and climate panorama”, was held at the Itaipu Binacional Hydroelectric Power Station.
Isabel Cancela de Abreu, Executive Director of ALER, was one of the speakers at the session “Regulatory challenges for the energy transition”. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of regulation in the energy transition process and its need to be coordinated with the government to enable a more robust ecosystem in the energy sector.
To discuss the energy transition and the need for regulatory improvements that dialogue with the contemporary economic scenario, the 1st ARIAE-RELOP International Conference focused mainly on energy markets in the context of decarbonizing economies; the regulatory challenges involved in the energy transition; the importance of the resilience of energy systems and the technologies available to improve them; and the improvement and modernization of tariff regulation.
The event was organized by the Association of Energy Regulators of Portuguese-speaking Countries (RELOP) and the Ibero-American Association of Energy Regulators (ARIAE); and promoted by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) and Itaipu Binacional.
