AMER and GOGLA publication on solar energy and off-grid energy in Mozambique available on LERenováveis
The article "Adaptation and Resilience in the Face of Climate Disasters in Mozambique: The Role of Off-Grid Solar and Energy Access", published in December 2023 by the Mozambican Renewable Energy Association (AMER) and the Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA), is now available on LERenováveis.
This publication focuses on climate and energy insecurity in Mozambique; reflects on how off-grid solar energy combats climate risks and increases resilience; and analyzes the basis for scaling off-grid solar energy in Mozambique. In addition, it presents practical approaches and success stories of resilience in action; discusses outsized CO2 and reductions, sets out some conclusions and calls for action.
Mozambique is one of the countries where energy poverty and climate vulnerability are devastatingly present. Cyclones, floods and droughts have become an almost annual phenomenon, and their impacts are intensifying. According to the NGO GermanWatch, which publishes the annual Global Climate Risk Index, Mozambique came first on the list of countries most vulnerable to climate change in 2021.
"Adaptation and Resilience in the Face of Climate Disasters in Mozambique: The Role of Off-Grid Solar and Energy Access" was produced with the support of GET.invest Moçambique, a program funded by the European Union and Germany, and part of the European program GET.invest.
