BRILHO Programme launches Call for mini-grids project

The SNV - Dutch Development Organization launched, through the BRILHO programme, the extension of the first Call to the Market Development Fund (MDF).

This Call is specific to the technology of green mini-grids and follows the approval of the Energy Access Regulation in Off-Grid Areas by the Government of Mozambique signed last September. This regulation is the result of a government effort, supported by the BRILHO programme, which recognises the importance of the sector to catalyze rural socio-economic development, leveraging private sector investment and improving the conditions of millions of people.

The proposals' application and submission phase of expression of interest will take place from October 20th until November 7th,2021.

The BRILHO programme, through the Market Development Fund (MDF), offers selected companies a unique combination of structured and non-refundable funding of up to GBP 750,000 and expert technical support.

About the BRILHO programme

BRILHO is a 5-year programme, with national coverage, that will catalyze the off-grid energy market in Mozambique, promoting and supporting business initiatives that can provide clean and affordable energy solutions to the population and companies, in a competitive and sustainable manner. BRILHO is financed by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by SNV – Dutch Development Organization.
