CPLP Energy Regulators met in Sao Tome and Principe
The Association of Energy Regulators of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (RELOP) met on 2 and 3 September in Sao Tome and Principe.
The 8th RELOP Annual Conference addressed four panels, namely policy for the energy sector in the CPLP, regulation in the oil sector, state and regulation perspectives, regulators' vision in Portuguese-speaking countries and the experiences and new ways of regulation in the CPLP.
The declaration of Cascais (Portugal) was also presented, as the result of the first meeting of energy ministers of CPLP Member-States, together with the identification of modalities for better colaboration of RELOP members in the support and development of the defined policies .
RELOP’s Members share the view that it is necessary to streamline the regulatory authorities actions within RELOP countries with a view to its further development.
Angola has been replaced in RELOP´s presidency by Cape Verde, through the Economic Regulation Agency (ARE), and the National Electric Energy Agency of Brazil (ANEEL) overtook the vice-presidency for the period 2016/2017, replacing Cape Verde. Mozambique may host the next RELOP event to be held during the World Energy Day, on May 29, 2016.
