DGRNE promotes webinar on the framework for low-emission transport and electric mobility roadmap
On 19th June 2024, the Directorate General for Natural Resources and Energy (DGRNE) held a webinar on "Developing regulations and compliance framework for low-emission transport and an electric mobility roadmap for São Tomé and Príncipe". The event, which was supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Central African Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Commission (CEREEAC), aimed to inform and consult stakeholders on the work that has been done in the field of low-emission transport.
UNIDO, in collaboration with DGRNE and the National Designated Authority (NDA), is implementing the project "Building institutional capacity for a renewable energy and energy efficiency investment program for São Tomé and Príncipe". The project, in coordination with another UNIDO project funded by the GEF, aims to transform the country into a climate-resilient and vibrant island center for business.
Over the past few months, UNIDO has been supporting the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe in developing baseline reports, roadmaps, standards and regulations to improve transport fuel economy and initiate market acceptance for electric vehicles. The documents provide a model for replication in the ECCAS region through CEREEAC.
The "Baseline Report on Efficient Transport and Electric Mobility in Sao Tome and Principe", the "National Fuel Economy Roadmap for STP" and the "National Electric Mobility Roadmap for STP" are now available on LERenováveis.
