GET FiT Moz is gaining real traction!
On October 12, 2018, in Maputo, Mozambique, a Stakeholder Workshop was organized by GET FiT Mozambique. The workshop was attended by around 100 participants, including the Vice-Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME), thus demonstrating the strong commitment of the Government.
Independent Power Producers (IPPs) from different renewable energies (solar, wind, hydro and biomass), were also present at the workshop, confirming the growing interest in investing in renewable energies in Mozambique.
On the basis of the feasibility and design study, MIREME has invited interested stakeholders to attend this workshop, where some of the key findings were presented, along with the presentation of a proposed conceptual structure for the GET FiT program in Mozambique.
Relevant information on the Risk Mitigation mechanism and the Regional Liquidity Support Facility was also presented as part of the African Trade Insurance. Promoters and funders, partners, donors and other stakeholders were invited to contribute to the concept note of the program in order to strengthen the final design of the program to be implemented in Mozambique.
The private sector representatives expressed the positive and negative points of the current moment in the renewable energy sector in Mozambique. Emphasizing that the moment is favorable for the development of renewable energy projects in Mozambique. However, the existing willingness and favorable momentum may not be sufficient for the desired effects and results if there is no appropriate coordination among the most relevant stakeholders.
