II CPLP Energy Conference announced at COP29 for May 2025
The 2nd CPLP Energy Conference will take place on May 27 and 28, 2025, at the Estoril Congress Center in Cascais (Portugal). The announcement was made today at an event co-organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Natural Resources of São Tomé and Príncipe (MIRN) and ALER at the Portuguese Pavilion during the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku (Azerbaijan).
Under the motto “Driving a Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Transition for the CPLP”, the 2nd CPLP Energy Conference will bring together more than 500 participants, including government officials, financiers, entrepreneurs and energy experts to discuss the energy transition and strengthen cooperation in this sector within the CPLP.
Promoted by the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe, which holds the Presidency-in-Office of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), together with the Energy Thematic Commission of the CPLP Consultative Observers, coordinated by ALER and the Association of Energy Regulators of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (RELOP), the conference will take place on the sidelines of the III Meeting of CPLP Energy Ministers, scheduled for May 26, 2025.
During two days, the 2nd CPLP Energy Conference will be the stage for the dissemination of the latest developments and anchor projects of the energy transitions underway in each member country, with a view to enhancing endogenous resources and diversifying the energy matrix, to ensure universal, reliable and affordable access for all, while supporting socio-economic development.
This high-level event, which will be attended by the Energy Ministers of the CPLP countries, will provide various networking and visibility opportunities through plenary and parallel sessions, an exhibition area, networking zones and a VIP gala dinner.
Ten years after its first edition, the conference returns with the institutional support of the Portuguese and CPLP Ministries of the Environment and Energy, and in partnership with the Portuguese Energy Agency (ADENE) and Cascais City Council, to highlight the best that has been done in the energy sector in the community of Portuguese-speaking countries.
