Launch of the tender for environmental and social impact assessment for Saltinho Hydropower Plant in Guinea-Bissau
The Governments of Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Senegal, member countries of the Organization for the Development of the River Gambia (OMVG), received a contribution from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to cover the costs of the OMVG Energy Project.
In accordance with these loan and grant agreements, the Governments have passed this funding to OMVG, which intends to use part of the proceeds of these loans and grants to finance the contracting of consulting services for Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), an Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the Digan hydroelectric facilities in The Gambia and the Kourawel River on the Komba, a tributary of the Koliba in the Republic of Guinea and Saltinho on the Koliba-Corubal River in Guinea-Bissau.
