The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) was established by the SADC Member States in 2015 to contribute towards increased access to modern energy services and improved energy security across the SADC Region through the promotion of market based uptake of renewable energy (RE) and energy efficient (EE) technologies and energy services.
Among the Portuguese-speaking countries, SACREEE covers Angola and Mozambique.
It is SACREEEs mandate to play a key role in the implementation of the recently adopted Southern Africa Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy and Action Plan (REEESAP) available here in ALER's database - LERenováveis.
The centre receives support from UNIDO, in the framework of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres mentioned in our newsletter editorial, as well as from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the EU Energy Initiative Partnership Dialogue Facility (EUEI PDF), and the SADC Secretariat.
The SACREEE Secretariat is based in Windhoek, Namibia.
