TOTAL EREN wins tender to build solar power plant in Dondo
ALER's Member, TOTAL EREN SA, won the tender for the development of the Dondo power plant project, in Sofala Province, launched under the Renewable Energy Auction Program (PROLER).
The announcement was made at the beginning of April, by the Energy Regulatory Authority – ARENE, after a “multi-sectoral assessment” of the four companies that showed interest in competing for qualification, integrating technical aspects related to the construction of a solar plant, the injection of the energy produced into the National Electricity Grid, as well as the choice of solutions with lower acquisition cost.
TOTAL EREN was selected for having presented the best proposal in technical and financial terms.
The Renewable Energy Auctions program is a pilot initiative comprising a set of photovoltaic and wind solar projects to be implemented through an Independent Power Producer (“IPP”) approach with a total capacity of approximately 120 MW (Megawatts).
In addition to the Dondo Power Station, the Renewable Energies Auctions program, included in the Energy for All Program, also foresees the construction of three more power generation plants, two of them based on solar and the other on wind source, whose tenders will be launched simultaneously at the beginning of the second half of 2022 and throughout the first half of 2023, respectively.
With a capacity of 30MW/40MW, the Dondo solar photovoltaic plant will occupy an area of approximately 80 ha (hectares), with 111,600 units of panels, being able to generate 380 – 400 jobs in the construction phase and 20 jobs in the operational phase.
