In Porto Novo, in the Santo Antão island, was implemented a desalination plant in 2021, with the support of Águas de Porto Novo, in a public-private partnership between the Government of Cape Verde, the Municipality of Porto Novo and Águas de Ponta Preta.
In Planalto Norte, in the Santo Antão region, was implemented a Photovoltaic Solar System in January 2019, with the support of the Associação de Defesa de Mértola and co-financed by the Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, amoung otheres.
News
On 5th April, the Cape Verdean government signed a contract with Cabeólica (an ALER Member) for the ‘expansion of the wind farm and energy storage battery’ project, which will double wind energy production in Cape Verde.
ALER's Executive Director, Isabel Cancela de Abreu, visited Berlin to take part in the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2024 (BETD.24). The conference, which took place on 19th and 20th March, focused on debating strategies to achieve a tripling of the world's renewable energy capacity.

Events
ALER is pleased to announce that it will host the 8th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2023). The event took place in Praia, Cape Verde, on October 12th and 13th.
From July 3rd to 7th, ALER developed the Countries' Week: Each day, one country, to present all the information about renewable energies in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe.
Training
The Sustainable Energy, Entrepreneurship and Startups Workshop had two-day duration and it was an online training program for entrepreneurs and startups in the area of sustainable energy.
The Women Sustainable Energy Program was held from February to July 2022 and had as its main objective the empowerment of women from São Tomé and Principe, Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau.
Exchange
Between 10 and 12 July, ALER hosted in Lisbon a delegation from the Municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago, Cape Verde, for an exchange action within the framework of the Climate and Energy Access Action Plan (SEACAP).
